If you know me, you know how important friendships are to me. I’m not one to burn bridges, and that’s pretty evident considering my two best friends in the world have been holding on to that position since the early 80s.
I might not have a ton of money, but I’m definitely rich in terms of the people and friendships that I have in my life. This weekend I had the honor of being a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding, and even though I’ve done the bridesmaid thing several times now (‘27 dresses’, hayyyyy!!) there was something special about this one. The bride, Katie, has been in my life since first grade, and has been a friend, a sister, a confidant, and more importantly - a person that makes me laugh like no one else.
On Saturday I watched her walk down the aisle and couldn’t help but look at this beautiful, elegant WOMAN coming towards my direction. To my right, another beautiful woman stood; also a bridesmaid. I knew both of these girls when they were literally children; a mere five years old. I can’t begin to put into words the things I have experienced with them and the fun I’ve had with them, because I would be writing for days.
It’s not often you get to call someone a lifetime friend; someone you’ve known in virtually every stage of your existence and will continue to be there for the rest of them.
